Kim Burrell Reveals on ‘We Sound Crazy!’ Podcast that Beyoncé Listened to Her Music for 11 Hours Straight Due to Jay-Z Marriage Issues…

Hello World,

I’m going to be honest. I cannot name not one Kim Burrell song, but nevertheless she is a very popular gospel singer. And yet, despite singing the gospel she only seems to have negative press. And this latest story is no different…unfortunately…Most recently, it’s being being reported that she revealed a private conversation she had with Jay-Z aka Beyoncé’s husband which led to the creation of his song 4:44 on the We Sound Crazy! Podcast. Below is what she said…

“He called me and said, ‘Hey, when my wife is going through it, I always know because I hear you playing in the background.’ He’s says, ‘My wife locked up one day for 11 hours and I heard nothing but Kim Burrell for 11 hours. Here’s why I’m calling you. When she came out, she was better. She was so much better. He says, I’m calling you because I need to have a meeting with the person that made my wife better.'”

See the full interview below. The Jay-Z portion of the interview starts at about 33 minutes…

Now, some are bashing her because she revealed some of the personal life of the Carters, who seem to be as private about their personal lives as they can be given their celebrity status. Initially, I was thinking that way too but as I type this, I’m not sure if I feel it’s negative or not. Now, if someone shared information with you in confidence and you, in turn, shared the information with others, that is most certainly a negative as it’s a violation of trust. However, that conversation led to the creation of Jay-Z’s song “4:44” in which he apologizes to his wife for various infractions including infidelity…Since he put his business out there, I’m not sure that the conversation that led to him putting his business out there via his song, which features the vocals of Kim Burrell, by the way is wrong. At the very least, her revealing this conversation does make me think that maybe Jay-Z did cheat on Beyoncé. Because after reading her biography Becoming Beyoncé: The Untold Story,” written by J. Randy Taraborrelli, I share his opinion about the matter…

“Now, I’m not a psychic, I’m a biographer, and I can’t say that Jay Z didn’t have a one-night stand in a tour bus a week ago, but I do know from my studying of Beyoncé [that] her personality is such that if in fact she was actually having marital problems, she would not be sitting down writing songs about it for the nation to dissect and interpret. That’s not who she is. She’s too private a person to handle her marital dysfunction for the world to see and examine. More likely what she’s doing is she’s possibly writing about her mother’s marriage and what she witnessed there. That sounds like Beyoncé.” Read the rest of this story on yahoo.com.

Given that this podcast episode was released in October 2022, I’m not sure why this excerpt recently surfaced, but that’s the power of these Internet streets. Something can be dug up from a decade ago and be poppin’ again…Be careful out here…Anywho…

What do you think about Kim Burrell and this latest headlining story?

Church of God in Christ Bishop Patrick Wooten Call’s Beyoncé’s ‘Church Girl’ Sample A ‘Piece of Trash’ But Dorinda Clark-Cole of The Clark Sisters Says ‘Leave Beyoncé Alone’…

Hello World,

This story is filed in “Stories I Don’t Really Care About But Maybe Y’all Will…” So Beyoncé’s latest album “Renaissance” is causing controversy every whicha kinda way mainly because of all of the samples she used…and let me just insert this here…I LOVE a good sample and a good remix, but something about all of the popular samples that Bey used in her latest album is annoying me…The Kelis sample annoyed me because I believe that Beyoncé could have alerted Kelis beforehand although she was not legally contracted to do so. Additionally, I love me some Kilo from back in the day because he represents Atlanta from when I was coming of age and so to hear one of his classic songs melded into a song that no longer represents that time doesn’t sit quite right from me. But Kilo is probably happy about the sample (read mo money) unlike Kelis who apparently is not motivated by cash…

So Beyoncé also sampled from gospel hits such as “Center Of Thy Will” by The Clark Sisters for her song “Church Girl.” I don’t like it.,Not because of the lyrics which are explicit, by the way, to me. But because it’s not all that good to me. Remember from my bio, I wrote that I “don’t mind backin’ that thang up to old school rap” and that I “embrace the reverent and the irreverent” so I’m not above jamming to a song that wouldn’t be sung in the house of God. But whether in the house of God or outside of the house of God, the song has to be at least good to me…But before the BeyHive comes for me, as a fellow twin mom, much of what she has done professionally and even personally has proven to be inspirational for me, but that doesn’t mean that I have to like every single Beyoncé song… But I digress…Bishop Patrick Wooten has plenty more to say about “Church Girl.” See below…

On the other hand, The Clark Sisters don’t mind the sample at all…See their statements below…

This is what Twinkie Clark said when the song first came out…but Dorinda Clark-Cole even more recently doubled down on the unbothered stance of The Clark Sisters…See her statement below…

If you’re gonna offend the church, at least let the song be so powerful that you have to reckon with the message…Madonna got that right with “Like a Prayer” back in the day…See below…

Anywho, that’s all I have on this topic…

Gospel Singer Kim Burrell Sings Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul’ Following Backlash After Calling Churchgoers ‘Broke’ and ‘Ugly’…

Hello World,

I’m sure by now you’ve heard of the Kim Burrell brouhaha, and if you haven’t, please update yourself by clicking HERE.  Well, it appears she is feeling sorry for herself or something as she sang a really sad version of Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul” at  Mt. Zion Church of Ontario’s 100th Anniversary Gospel Concert in Ontario, Canada last Sunday…Check it out below…

About what she originally said, I have to respond with the Word…“What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” Matthew 15:11

And to double down with James 3:10, I don’t care if she is a legendary gospel singer with the voice of an angel because it is also stated that “praise and cursing” should not come out of the same mouth. Some people may say she didn’t actually curse, but you don’t have to use official “curse words” to curse somebody out. And if she was trying to be a comedienne, it just wasn’t funny…

But hopefully, she has learned a few lessons from this, and even if you’re a woman of God, you are always growing…
