Wooo Hooo “Sex and the City 2” is almost here (A new trailer has been released)

Hello World (probably Hello Ladies for this post…)

Well, I am fresh from the “Why Can’t a Successful Black Woman Find a Man?” debate on Friday, but unfortunately I won’t be able to post on that today. The press was informed that since ABC News’  “Nightline” is not airing the story until Wednesday, April 21, all press has to wait until then to report on what happened…I will say this, it was a great event, and I now have a crush on Hill Harper…move over Idris Elba…

Anywho, in lieu of that post, I decided to post on the new “Sex and the City 2” movie which will debut on May 28. A new movie trailer has been released (thanks Chicki for the heads up!) and it’s longer than the first movie trailer that was released months ago…

Apparently, Carrie and Big’s marriage has gotten a little predictable…Big may be flirting with Penelope Cruz, and Carrie fights temptation as she runs into Aidan in Abu Dhabi where she and girls go for a vacay…Notable quote “Big and I are getting a little too Mr. and Mrs. Married. We have to work on the sparkle.” Also, it appears that Stanford Blatch may be getting married and Liza Minnelli performs at the wedding…But let me not tell it all…you watch the video for yourselves….

Oh, I just love “Sex and the City!” I know that I sound sickeningly girly right now, but so what…

Any thoughts?

So Why Can’t a Successful Black Woman Find a Man?

Hello World!

I think ABC News’ “Nightline” is gonna ride this train until the wheels fall off…Back in December, a reporter interviewed several black women about the shortage of marriageable black men…Apparently,  Atlanta is the epicenter of this shortage and so several black women from the A were polled…If you haven’t seen the now infamous video of the interview, you can view it here. This interview ignited a firestorm of opinions all over the Blogosphere, Facebook, radio and on and on…My mom was even compelled to discuss the interview with me after seeing the video. (Her analysis. “I feel sorry for you and other young women who are dating now…” I just rolled my eyes and kept my mouth shut.) Newly-appointed relationship guru Steve Harvey was also a part of the interview and lent his commentary to the discourse….

Well, on Friday, this dilemma will again be the focus of discussion at ABC News’ Nightline “Why Can’t a Successful Black Woman Find a Man?” as a part of its “Nightline: Face Off” series. And guess what? The city is coming to the country…ABC News’ “Nightline” is hosting the debate right here in Atlanta….below are the details…

“Nightline” Face-Off : Why can’t a successful black woman find a man? Moderated by correspondent Vicki Mabrey and radio talk show host Steve Harvey

Sherri Shepherd: Co-Host of ABC’s “The View”

Hill Harper, CSI-NY actor and author of “The Conversation”

When:

April 9 from 7-9 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the first 600 attendees will be seated.

I will be in the house covering the event for After the Altar Call…If you’re not among the 600 that make it in, that’s okay…I will be bringing you all of the details and will post them here on Sunday…

So why do you think a successful black woman can’t find a man….Or is that even true? Is this part of a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point? Give me some questions that I can ask Steve Harvey, Sherri Shepherd, Hill Harper etc.

Any thoughts?

A New Thing…It’s Easter Sunday Y’all!

Hello World!!!

As I listen to the birds chirping outside my window and see the dark of night fade to blue, my spirit feels lighter…One of the reasons that I love Easter is that it officially ushers the world into spring…Winter has finally packed his bags and gone away for a few months, and Spring, with her flirty self, is here…And everything is blooming too…I can tell because my throat is itchy and my eyes are watering…Even nature knows that new things are on the horizon…that is The Promise of Easter…

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.  Isaiah 43:19

Jesus is doing a “new thing!” He made a way out of no way!  He is making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland…Can’t you tell? I overheard my mother talking to my uncle yesterday as she was making something good to eat for today (Yep, I will be all up my momma’s house eating today after church…) I wanted to say something, but you know how it is sometimes – even though I’m grown now, sometimes you can’t interrupt grown folks’ conversation…and my momma and uncle are still more grown than me…My momma said to my uncle that sometimes we Christians give ourselves such a hard time sometimes and that we will never be perfect right here on earth…And that’s why Jesus died…Let’s face it, we will never be perfect, but Jesus is…and today, we can revel in His sacrifice for us and remember that absolutely nothing can “separate us from the love of God.” (Romans 8:38-39) Not that we should act a fool, do wrong on purpose and use our imperfections as an excuse – naw, that’s not what His sacrifice is about…It’s about trying to do our best while realizing that we can never be perfect…

Happy Easter!
