Trailer Released for ‘Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul,’ A Satirical Comedy Starring Sterling K. Brown of ‘This Is Us’ and Regina Hall of ‘Girls Trip’…

Hello World,

I don’t know how to feel about this, but it does seem funny…sadly…See what I’m talkin’ ’bout below…

Focus Features, Peacock, and Monkeypaw Productions announce Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul., from Daniel Kaluuya’s 59% Productions, will open in theaters and stream on Peacock on Labor Day weekend Friday, September 2nd, 2022.

ABOUT HONK FOR JESUS. SAVE YOUR SOUL.

In Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul., proud first lady of a Southern Baptist megachurch, Trinitie Childs (Regina Hall) carries immense responsibility on her shoulders. After a scandal involving her husband, Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Sterling K. Brown), the church is forced to close temporarily, leaving Trinitie struggling to manage the aftermath. Now Trinitie and Lee-Curtis must rebuild their congregation and reconcile their faith by all means necessary to make the biggest comeback that commodified religion has ever seen.

Hot off its exciting Sundance Film Festival premiere, filmmaking sibling duo the Ebo twins, writer-director Adamma Ebo and producer Adanne Ebo, make their feature film debut with production company Pinky Promise in this adaptation of their previous short film of the same name. This comedy features stellar performances from Regina Hall (Support the GirlsGirls Trip) and Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”, “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson”). It is produced by Academy Award® winner Daniel Kaluuya through his production company 59% with Amandla Crichlow; alongside Adamma Ebo, Adanne Ebo; Pinky Promise’s Jessamine Burgum and Matthew Cooper; Rowan Riley; Kara Durrett; and Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown. Monkeypaw’s Jordan Peele executive produced.

See the hilarious trailer below…And is it just me, but doesn’t it seem like Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul. was filmed at the same church where OWN’s “Greenleaf” was filmed?

With twins, I don’t have time to watch everything, but I will make time for this…particularly since I’m missing “This is Us” and OWN’s “Greenleaf”…

Any thoughts?

See the 1st Episode of ‘KINGDOM BUSINESS’ from BET+ & Pics from ‘KINGDOM BUSINESS’ Premiere…

Hello World,

I’ve been hearing great things about KINGDOM BUSINESS,  the new BET+ show which is executive produced by DeVon Franklin, Holly Carter, and Kirk Franklin and premiered earlier this month! It’s hard to measure up to OWN’s Greenleaf, my favorite church drama of all time, but I’m always up for a new show if done well…

If you missed the first episode, please check it out below followed by the official synopsis:

About KINGDOM BUSINESS: Denita Jordan is the Queen of Gospel Music at First Kingdom Church and Kingdom Records in Atlanta. A superstar whose music has been heard around the world, she is determined to guard her family and its many secrets at all costs. Her husband Calvin Jordan may be the Bishop at First Kingdom, but Denita is the true leader, and she has little tolerance for insurrection among her family and employees (and ex-employees). Suddenly, there is a new powerhouse performer on the Atlanta gospel scene — a young pole dancer, Rbel, whose talent and pedigree may bring her closer to God and gold than she ever imagined.

KINGDOM BUSINESS also touts a stellar lineup of talented recurring guests stars, including Tamar Braxton as “Sasha”, La’Miya Good as “Essence,” Aspen Kennedy as “Zyan,” Kiandra Richardson as “C.J. Jordan-Walker,” Kajuana Shuford Marie as “Dani” and Sam Malone as “Dex.”

Also, check out pics from the Hollywood premiere of KINGDOM BUSINESS. Yolanda Adams, Serayah, Michael Jai White, Michael Beach, Chaundre A. Hall-Broomfield, La’Myia Good and Kiandra Richardson were in attendance at the star-studded celebration at NeueHouse in Hollywood, California.

Premiere Highlights included:

  • An intimate evening with a black carpet outside the venue and an interactive photo booth and custom snacks and drinks inside
  • Guests were treated to a Q&A hosted by executive producers DeVon Franklin and Holly Carter
  • A surprise musical performance by Serayah, Yolanda Adams, and Kirk Franklin on the piano, performing original gospel tracks “It Was Love” and “Talk Back,” which will be available via the official Kingdom Business soundtrack this summer

RHOP’s Gizelle Bryant Reveals on The Breakfast Club That She & Pastor Jamal Bryant Have Broken Up…

Hello World,

Well, since I can’t recap messy fake pastor drama on OWN’s Greenleaf anymore, recapping messy real pastor drama will have to do…

Former First Lady and current Real Housewives of Potomac star Gizelle Bryant recently told The Breakfast Club that she and Pastor Jamal Bryant, who were divorced but reconciled, are no longer dating after all. See her statement below…

“We were working on us getting back together and being back together but he lives in Atlanta and I live In Maryland and with the pandemic, we realize it’s just not the right time. It’s just not going to work.”

Below is the entire interview if you’re interested…

The last time I reported on Pastor Bryant it was in this post: Pastor Tunya Griffin, Alleged Former ‘Girl Friend’ of Pastor Jamal Bryant, Refutes Statements He Made in His Clap Back Video…

Hello World,

I hope you had a socially distant Christmas with your family, friends and loved ones! I did 🙂 So y’all, last week, I wrote this post Why New Birth Pastor Dr. Jamal Bryant Was Right to Respond to ‘Real Housewife’ Monique Samuels & Say He Won’t Appear on the Show Again…Apparently, I made a mistake so let me correct that first of all. In the paragraph which starts with, “And most revealingly about Monique, he revealed that while she is steady calling him out, she has been calling him, trying to get a come up,” I attributed the quotes that follow to being about Monique, but actually Pastor Bryant was referring to woman he dated who lives in New York. During episode of 1 of the RHOP reunion, Monique provided information regarding his former girl friend’s texts with Pastor Bryant as well as some of the conversations he had with this woman. Read the rest HERE.

I don’t think they broke up over the pandemic…I believe it has to do with what I wrote about in the above post…And some believe they had reconciled in the first place and that it was all for The Real Housewives of Potomac show…

The Real Housewives of Potomac will return for Season 6 in July 11 on Bravo.
