Greenleaf Mid-Season Finale Recap, Season 2 Episode 8: And the Sparks Fly Upward…

Hello World,

Saints, pull up real close to your laptops or your phones because I’m about to serve you from the sumptuous feast that was laid out in this OWN’s “Greenleaf” mid-season finale !!! And you gon be licking your fingers too because it was sooo juicy!!! Taste and see that the Lord is good! LOL

Crash…

Remember at the end of episode 7, last week’s episode, Grace sped off the Greenleaf estate in a Greenleaf security truck to chase down Mac after he boldly sent flowers to the estate in honor of the one-year anniversary of Faith’s passing? Well, this week’s episode starts off with Grace careening through the woods, pressing her foot on the gas until she loses control of the truck. The truck catapults into a tree and Grace’s face lands on the steering wheel with the air bag deployed. For a second, I wonder if she is dead. But I’m like the heroine of the show cannot be dead at this point. And as soon as I have this thought, she stirs and then wakes up, stunned to realize what happened. She crawls through the window and then calls Darius the journalist on her cell phone. (Am I the only one who thinks the truck was about to blow up? I guess I’ve seen one too many action movies! LOL!) I thought Darius and Grace were through, but obviously, I was wrong.

He takes her back to the estate, where he is enthralled by the grandeur of the Greenleaf home. I guess it’s one thing to write about the Greenleaf dynasty, but it’s quite another to see it up close. He tells the family that Grace was “lucky” to have survived to which Bishop responds with, “We don’t believe in luck.” Grace explains the accident by saying she swerved to avoid hitting a deer. Once Darius leaves, Bishop says, “If you ask me, I don’t  think that was any deer.” He tells his daughter that she has to stop pursuing Mac and Sophia tells her the same thing. Grace says, “We all have our crosses to bear.” Sophia says, “Then you are mine.” Can you imagine telling your mama that she is your cross to bear? I can’t…

When Charity and Jabari get together, it won’t be by accident! As Charity is caring for her son, Jabari calls to invite her to Nashville to record with a group that is coming in from L.A. Y’all know recording won’t be the only happening, right? She agrees to his invitation, but now she has to figure out who will take care of Nathan while she is away.

Before the Triumph train crashes, Jacob finally divulges Basie’s poker scam to his wife Kerissa. Kerissa calls Basie and his wife Tasha Bonnie and Clyde and says she should have known something was up when she found that one-hundred dollar bill on the floor. She tells him he’s got to get out of this situation, but whatever he does, he better not go “crawling back to that mansion and that sneering a** mom of yours.”

Macarena…

The “relationship” that Mac has with his girlfriend Lorraine is like a badly choreographed dance. It’s not free flowing or joyous. Everything he does or says is to squelch her women’s intuition which is trying to tell her that this man is no man at all. She’s living with a monster but she gon learn. The lies that some women tell themselves to keep a man is simply sad.  According to Mac, his niece Sophia is the one who is blowing up his phone all day and or all night although we know it is Michaela from his old building. Lorraine says, “What kind of niece calls her uncle so often?” He says, “I like to be there for her if she needs me.” She then admits that she knows what people are saying about Mac, but she doesn’t believe them. She tells him she loves him. Dumbo.

Outside of whatever church the couple are attending, he calls Michaela to tell her she needs to stop calling him. Michaela says her mother has gone schizo, and she needs a place to crash. “I don’t have anyone else,” she says. But Mac still shuts her down for now.

Charity looks like she is ready to get her dance on at the club although she is singing at Sunday morning worship service. Her dress is fitted and short. Kevin notices,  but that doesn’t stop him from glancing at Aaron during the church service.

Across town at Triumph, Basie Skanks listens to his headphones, dancing around and what not in his office before his Sunday morning service starts. He is trying to get pumped as he wants to make a “withdrawal from the banks of Heaven” he tells Jacob, who catches him while he is dancing. Yes, he expects his flock to make up for the funds he lost in poker. He is a delusional shepherd. In service, he tells them to admit they’re “in sin” and they need to “dig deep” and “sow a seed of faith.” Then he says, they got “skanktafied.” See what I mean?

Back at Calvary, Bishop tells his flock that while he could preach about the wages of sin, he wants to talk about the gift on the other side of the equation. “To sin means to turn away, but to repent means to turn back.” I know that Bishop is no angel, but unlike Basie, I really believe that Bishop believes in the power of God even if his humanity fails him from to time. Grace looks at her father as if she wants to repent of trying to avenge the death of her sister on her own instead of leaving the vengeance to God as He commands. But she doesn’t know how it seems.

Kevin agrees to care for his son while Charity goes to Nashville and she says he can stay at the estate while she is gone. Little does she know that while she has to travel across the state to see her soon-t0-be new bae, her husband’s soon-to-be new bae will be just down the hall from her. She may as well be “dancing the dark.”

The dance between Mac and his age-appropriate beard abruptly, and I mean abruptly stops when he gets a call from Deputy Mayor Leonard who says he will not be getting a job for him after all with his “sick self” because of pushback he has already received. He delivers the final blow when he says, “Lose my number.” Mac believes Grace got to the deputy mayor when Jacob was the one who threatened him. When Lorraine asks him who was on the phone, instead of lying as he had in the past, he says, “None of your business.” He then proceeds to call her everything (including “bottom-shelf” and “off-brand” ) but a child of God before telling her to get out! And the woman didn’t want to go although she did leave. Smh. He then calls Michaela and asks, “You still need a place to stay?” I guess since he has no job prospects, he has nothing to lose by revealing his true character.

If Zora and her boyfriend Isaiah were dancing to “Cha Cha,” the music has stopped . He invites her to listen to him record a song at a studio, but when she truthfully tells him that a couple of his notes were flat in front his friends, he asks to speak with her privately. He clutches her arms and tells her, “Don’t do that in front of them.” It’s obvious this guy may be an abuser so Zora calls her cousin to pick her up. The only problem is that Sophia is supposed to be on the way to meet her mother and Darius at a restaurant.

Karma…

Basie feels betrayed when Jacob comes to him and offers to pay Triumph 2’s debt if Basie would allow him to have the church and disassociate it from the original Triumph. When Basie asks how he is going to get the money, he says he has the money as it was a wedding present from his parents. Yes, Jacob had the trump (not Drumpf) card all along. He says Basie is playing a dangerous game with Triumph’s church members. “If you mess with black people’s money, they will rise up and take it back.” Got that right! I despise a money-grubbing, dishonest pastor. I’m so thankful that I was raised by an honest and upright, God-fearing pastor.

At Mac’s apartment, Michaela gets comfortable on his sofa as Mac pours two glasses of liquor before they watch “Imitation of Life.” Darius and Grace wait for her daughter to show up to meet them for dinner at Farm & Table. Michaela and Sophia do have similar looks, and it’s clear that Sophia could have been one of Mac’s victims if Grace had allowed him to get anywhere close to her daughter. I’m so creeped out as I watch Mac touch Michaela’s hair as she sleeps. Then he touches her knee and continues to move his hands upward. He attempts to kiss the child when she wakes up and kicks at him until she is able to escape his grip. Thankfully, she runs out the apartment.

After tucking in Nathan, Kevin takes the baby monitor to Aaron’s quarters where he and Aaron kick back and have a beer. Aaron gives him advice on finding a place since Nathan can’t seem to find anywhere to rent. Kevin tells Aaron, “Thanks for being so nice to me through all this.” Their arms are already touching and then they kiss! After this, Kevin may find a way to keep living at the estate.

Mac the monster calls Grace and tells her, “You should have left it alone, Gigi.” Grace leaves the restaurant and rushes over to Mac’s house. She believes her uncle has done something to Sophia to retaliate against her although she doesn’t quite know what her uncle is talking about. He calls his niece a female dog and their limbs entangle as they fight. They fall to the floor and Mac lands on top of his niece. With his sweaty, contorted face close to hers, he grabs her throat and squeezes. For the second time, I wonder if the heroine is about to die. But just before the life is squeezed from her, she finds a piece of the broken liquor bottle and sinks the shard into his neck! As the blood gushes from his wound, she screams, “Tell me where she is!” Mac got what was coming to him, but if he is dead, what will happen to Grace?! See why God says, vengeance is mine…

And then it’s over! Wasn’t that good? Are you satisfied or do you want more?!  I guess we will have to see what happens when OWN’s “Greenleaf” returns this summer!

Greenleaf Recap Season 2 Episode 6: The Royal Family…

Only 2 more episodes of OWN’s “Greenleaf” before it returns this summer, saints! And there is so much to share from this episode, I won’t even try to come up with a catchy intro…

The Gambler…

This episode begins with Sophia asking her mother for money to apply to get into Rhodes College, a Christian college in the area where she is considering majoring in religious studies, but instead of encouraging her daughter to apply to get into the  school, Pastor Grace blows her daughter’s inquiry off. Why would Grace have a problem with allowing her daughter to apply for entry into a Christian school? Unlike Sophia, another pastor’s daughter, Zora, isn’t asking for money to apply to a Christian college, she wants permission to bring her boyfriend Isaiah to her cousin Sophia’s birthday party. Her mother Kerissa refers to the Triumph singer as a Christian thug in violation of her “no reprobate thug policy,” but her daddy, Pastor Jacob, grants her request as long as they don’t leave the property, which has been a problem for the young couple in the past.

Negotiations are also taking place at Calvary as Charity and Kevin along with their lawyers meet to begin the process of their divorce. The couple wants joint custody of their son Nathan, but Charity brings up the fact that she will be spending more time in Nashville than originally planned. Kevin shouts out, “Are you running off with Jabari?” To which Charity responds with, “What do you care?” Kevin flees from the meeting, prompting Aaron, Charity’s attorney, to ask her if he knows all of the details he should know to properly represent her. “Is there something going on with Jabari that I should be aware of?”

And the most unholy negotiations of them all are taking place at a car dealership (I hate buying cars) where Grace is car shopping with her new boo Darius, the journalist. She is searching for a truck to present to Sophia for her birthday but doesn’t like the sales shtick that you have to endure at a car dealership. Amen to that! She finds it so distasteful that she pretty much picks the first vehicle she looks at so that she won’t have to endure all of the haggling.

When Lady Mae corners Charity about the divorce proceedings, Charity reveals that Kevin may try to go for sole custody. Her mother still can’t understand why the two are divorcing anyway and tells her that although she is hiding something, “everything will come out sooner or later.”

Jacob does some cornering of his own when he confronts Basie about a Bass Reeves who contributes large sums of money to Triumph’s bottom line according to Triumph’s books. He wonders about the identity of the mysterious donor as he is unable to locate a contact for this man, who may be able to contribute to legal fees to fight Calvary. Instead of answering Jacob outright, Basie asks his protégé to watch him play with a deck of cards. He explains how he learned how to play cards on Beale Street before he challenges Jacob to play with him. Basie wins the game with a “royal family.” (I don’t play card games except for Uno and Speed so let me know if this terminology is wrong.) Jacob correctly guesses that Pastor Basie is Bass Reeves. Apparently, Pastor Basie supports his church Triumph with his gambling earnings! I want to be shocked, but I would bet there are plenty of pastors, unfortunately, who support their churches with unscrupulous undertakings…

Grace Under Fire…

Although Grace is still officially a Calvary pastor, she seems perilously close to falling away from the faith yet again. Even her wardrobe suggests her indecision. She is wearing beige – neither black nor white –  for most of the episode. In fact, rather than encouraging her daughter to apply to the Christian college, she calls the admission office at her alma mater Northwestern where she graduated from in 1998. (This detail helps me to frame her age. I guess she’s about 4o or 41.) Also, apparently, Bishop learned about the wedding that didn’t happen in part due to Grace’s “counseling.” Grace doesn’t deny that she seems to be losing her religion, and Bishop, ever the doting father when it comes to his Grace, tells her,”As long as you know there’s a problem, there’s hope.” But just when she has gotten into his good graces again, Gigi asks her father if she can bring her boyfriend, the journalist who covered the Mac Greenleaf scandal, to the Greenleaf estate for her daughter’s party. Bishop asks, “Darius Nash, the muckraker?”

Although cousins Zora and Sophia no longer live together, they do catch up at school. Despite their family ties, however, Zora seems to be developing on obsession with her boyfriend Isaiah, which makes her cousin feel uncomfortable. I’m sure some of that discomfort stems from the fact that Isaiah was originally Sophia’s crush, but it also seems that Zora’s displacement from Calvary and from the Greenleaf estate has encouraged her to take solace in her boyfriend. Every other word out of her mouth is “Isaiah” and she builds her schedule according to his pursuits. She dashes off from their conversation to attend his band practice.

Now that Basie’s gambling is no longer a secret, he invites Jacob to partake in a game of poker that floats from location to location. Jacob one ups him and says not only will he come but they can play at the parsonage. Jacob tells Kerissa that he won’t be able to attend Sophia’s party with her at the Greenleaf estate because of an important meeting with one of Triumph’s biggest donors. Kerissa isn’t thrilled about having to venture back to the estate without her hubby but she says if this meeting will “get us out of this house. I’m all for it.”

Meanwhile, back at Calvary, somehow Lady Mae got Charity to admit why she is divorcing Kevin. Lady Mae, without realizing that Bishop’s assistant is under his desk trying to sort out Internet wires, blurts out “Kevin is gay” in Bishop’s office. When the assistant comes up from the desk and looks at Lady Mae, Lady Mae says, “Loose lips sink ships.” But you know the word is going to get out now…Once the assistant leaves his office, Lady Mae tells Bishop that Kevin has been attending Fortitude for Families (the gay conversion therapy program) and that she wants him out of the house and out of the church.

But while Lady Mae is focusing on their baby daughter, Bishop is concerned about his eldest daughter. When Grace asked him if she could bring Darius to the Greenleaf estate, Bishop said he would ask her mother, but he never did. He just decides that the journalist is not welcome and asks Grace, “Do you think that this man is part of God’s plan for your life?” That is a fair question to ask considering what happens next. Grace calls Darius and tells him that Sophia’s party won’t be the occasion through which he meets her parents. Darius, being the level-headed journalist, suggests that the two just be friends. After all, “You’re a pastor, and I’m never going back to church.” I truly hope  Grace finds a way to cling to her faith and doesn’t fall away for good. Whether or not that happens, since the church is an integral part of her family tree, it doesn’t make sense for her to fall for a heathen…

Lady Mae is all about protecting her family although her methods to do are questionable…In the midst of pink and white flowers and decorations for Sophia’s party later that evening, she tells Kevin that “self-interest inspires generosity.” In other words, if Kevin wants to protect his standing, he better not take a stand against Charity in the divorce proceedings. When Kevin, Charity and the attorneys meet again, he agrees to terms so unfavorable to him that his attorney wants him to sign a malpractice waiver and Charity follows him out of the conference room to question him after the meeting concludes. He asks Charity if she told his mother about his sexuality. When she reluctantly tells him that she did, he hands her his wedding ring and says, “You win.” So have y’all noticed that Charity no longer looks like the wifey as she did in the first season? In this second season, she is constantly flipping a brand new sleek bob and is either wearing some tight or short. In this scene, she is wearing a flouncy, flirty skirt.

Despite the fact that they are divorcing, Charity tries to stay in the good graces of Kevin to no avail. When she compliments him about his attire for Sophia’s party, he says, “Don’t act like everything is cool between us.” He says that  now that Lady Mae knows about his sexuality, it is only a matter of time before everyone else at Calvary knows too. Basically.

Birds of a Feather…

It is finally time for Sophia’s birthday party, and her new boyfriend shows up! I believe his name is Roberto. So it seems that Roberto, a nice, Christian, young man, is also considering attending Rhodes College. Obviously, that is one of the attractions for the Christian college.

When Lady Mae discovers that Jacob will not be coming to the party because he has to work, she plainly says Triumph’s senior pastor is a fraud and that devil finds work for idle hands! I love Lady Mae 🙂

Grace asks Kevin and Aaron to wrap the bow around her daughter’s new truck and drive it to the front of the Greenleaf home for her. While they are outside in the dark, tying the bow around the vehicle, Aaron says to Kevin, he can talk to him “once the smokes clears.” What does he mean by that? Was Aaron hitting on Kevin on the sly? Now that would shake up some things, wouldn’t it?

Across town, at the poker game unfolding at the parsonage, Pastor Basie tells Jacob that Bass Reeves is not just an alias, it is the name of a real person. He refers to him as the real django as he was the “one of the first black deputy U.S. marshals” according to my quick Wikipedia inquiry. When Jacob asks Basie how he reconciles gambling as a way to support his church (“What about the law or even God’s law?”) he tells him that he doesn’t love money or depend on luck, which are prohibited according to the Bible. Rather, he donates the money to the church and he depends on God not luck. Okay…whatever…)Later on, after everything is over, Kerissa finds a stray dollar bill and wonders where it came from…)

Sophia receives a beautiful leather study Bible from her grandparents and hopefully, she will use to rightly divide the word of God for herself rather than rely on erroneous misinterpretations. In another special moment at the party, she also receives a truck or jeep (I’m so not into cars) from her mother. In her excitement, Sophia, Roberto, Zora and Isaiah are allowed to cruise around Memphis in her new ride. However, when Sophia stops at a bowling alley, Zora wants them to skip bowling and go for beer at a club with Isaiah the gospel singer. Sophia asks her cousin, “Why can’t you just stick with me for one night?”

After the party, Grace goes into her father’s office at Calvary where she sees him writing a personal note in the Bible that he gave Sophia. For whatever reason, I guess he wasn’t able to do that before he gave it to her. He writes Deuteronomy 32:2 in it. “Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.” That’s beautiful, huh? But Grace even finds a problem with that, telling her father that she doesn’t want her daughter to follow in her footsteps. Bishop admonishes his daughter for treating her faith like it’s a “sickness.” He says, “What is it going to take to bring you back into the fold?” She answers, “Put Mac in jail.” He advises her that vengeance is God’s business and that when we try to take the wheel from God, we quickly find ourselves in a ditch.” His last words to her, “You think on these things.”

And then the episode ends….What do you think Gigi should do? Do you think she should keep pursuing Mac or do you think she should turn over the matter to God?

Greenleaf Recap Season 2 Episode 5: Point of No Return…

As this is Holy Week, I wondered if the Greenleafs of OWN’s “Greenleaf” would be a bit more holy in this episode, but if you keep reading this Greenleaf Recap Season 2 Episode 5, you will learn the Greenleafs may send themselves to Hell instead of allowing God to usher them to Heaven…

Creep…

Pastor Grace starts off this episode creeping into the Greenleaf estate shortly before sunrise. Just when she thinks no one notices her tiptoeing in, her daughter Sophia, with the zeal of a brand new Christian,  surprises her as she was praying early in the morning as Jesus recommends in the Word. Her daughter calls her out and says she must be a friend-with-benefits to Darius, but she denies it. She spent the night talking with Darius about how to put Mac in jail she tells her daughter. Sophia suggests that they simply pray and give the matter to God. Bless her Praying Pollyanna heart…I love this African proverb: When you pray, move your feet…

On the other side of town, Jacob and Kerissa have to creep around in the dark for another reason: the lights in the parsonage have gone out! And apparently, it’s not the first time. Kerissa tells her husband she is going to call Basie’s wife Tasha to complain. “If they thought the place was livable, they would be living here,” she says. To make matters worse, Basie Skanks calls them first and tells Jacob about the injunction that will stop the construction of Triumph 2 for at least 28 days. Jacob’s new boss says they will not cower at Calvary’s injunction!  Instead, they will throw a curve ball and show up at Calvary to confront Bishop straight up in his face.

Lady Mae is trying to creep into Aaron Jeffries’ heart. He has moved into Jacob’s room , and she shows him the beauty of where he will now be living. His balcony provides a panoramic view of the greenery of the Greenleaf estate. Lady Mae uses this opportunity to tell Aaron that if Calvary fails, they would have to sell the estate to settle the books.

Father Figure…

Charity and Kevin get along well for a couple who has decided they are divorcing. Charity asks Kevin if he can watch their son Nathan while she meets with Jabari, her album producer, to discuss cover art for her album. He agrees to do so and tells her that with their relationship status, he’s not sure if he will have the same access to his son as he does right now. She assures him that although they are getting divorced, he will still be able to be a present father for his son.

Basie drags Jacob to Calvary’s campus like he is Jacob’s daddy, huffing and puffing in the tradition of George Jefferson from the sitcom “The Jeffersons” aka Deacon Frye from the sitcom “Amen.” Am I the only one who sees the comedy in Basie? I know this is supposed to be serious business, but he seems like a chihuahua: all bluster and nary a bite. Basie with Jacob in tow busts up in Bishop’s office and asks him, “What kind of father does this to your only son?” He then demands that the matter be resolved “peacefully and spiritually.” What does that mean?

As Bishop is busy, Pastor Grace will officiating a wedding at Calvary – if the couple can stop bickering during their premarital counseling. The couple meets with Grace and they argue about the education of their children yet to be born. Apparently, the wife-to-be wants her children to receive a Christian education while the husband-to-be wants secular schooling.

In another part of the church, Charity and Jabari discuss the cover art for Charity’s new album. But Jabari doesn’t want their partnership to end, he tells her that she should be a professional songwriter with his publishing company – which would include coming to Nashville from time to time. Y’all know what’s up, right? Or what he wants to go down…They’re cheesing and hugging as they converse when Lady Mae walks in. Jabari excuses himself before Lady Mae asks, “Should I be concerned?” Then she drops this line: “Be careful. Take it from a woman who knows.” (Insert mouth dropping open) With this line, Lady Mae confirms that she had an affair on Bishop with Pastor Jeffries.

Lady Mae is not the only one dropping bombshells. Charity tells her mother not to worry as she and Kevin are getting divorced. Lady Mae advises Charity to let her marriage bend – bend so much that it is “knotted up like seaweed from a swamp.” (not particularly pleasant imagery for a marriage) But avoid breaking it all costs. Again, Lady Mae’s words reveal that this is a path she has walked on and worn out…Finally, she tells Charity that she and Kevin need to counsel with Bishop and Lady Mae…Would you want your parents to counsel you about your marriage? I just feel like there are some things that your parents don’t need to know about you once you’re grown – and the intricacies of your marriage are one of them….

Speaking of Bishop, he goes to Aaron’s office to ask for his advice about how to deal with Jacob and Basie. He advises him to ignore them as long as he can. Aaron Jeffries is now the acting general counsel at Calvary. At the request of Lady Mae, Aaron even approaches Kevin about representing Charity in the divorce should it come to that. Throughout the episode, he tries to craft the perfect voicemail message, but he keeps on getting interrupted because the Greenleafs need his assistance. Obviously, he’s going to be an integral part of the Calvary team, unlike Jacob…

While waiting for Bishop to discuss the injunction, Basie tells Jacob how he discovered that his father had died in the fire set at Bishop’s church. He was given some hot cocoa before his mother broke the news to him. Basie says, “That night something broke in my life.” When Bishop invites Basie and Jacob to meet with him finally about the injunction, Basie says to Jacob, “The table is set. The only question is what are you serving?”

Bills, Bills, Bills…

Wearing a jean jumpsuit that displays all her curves, Tasha, Triumph’s First Lady, shows up at the parsonage ready to be a handyman. But Kerissa is not here for Tasha’s sunny sermonettes. She wants the lights to work and tells Tasha without any diplomacy. To her surprise, Tasha breaks down and reveals that Triumph may not have the money to properly repair the parsonage. She also reveals that Basie has a lot of financial commitments with the new church and she wonders if her husband is going too fast. “The menfolk hurry and the women worry,” she says.

Preston and Simone won’t have to worry about wedding bills after Simone calls off the wedding. When Pastor Grace presses Simone about why she longer wants to get married, she says that she was disappointed when she discovered that Pastor Grace, not Bishop, would be the one marrying them. She tells her that she doesn’t know how Pastor Grace who is supposed to be a “real Christian” could have just run off and left the church. Yeah, I would not want any ole pastor marrying me either so I agree with that statement. But obviously this woman doesn’t have clue what happened with Grace’s sister Faith and her Uncle Mac.  Sophia, who is new to Christianity, attends baptism orientation class and learns that while she may be baptized again in the future for whatever reason, she will never ever be someone who hasn’t been baptized. Baptism is the point of no return. Agreed.

While Bishop’s first church burning down enabled him to get bill money from his insurance company, there was some irreparable damage, according to Jacob. Basie’s story has fired up Jacob as Jacob tells his father, that they both lost their fathers that night. That was deep. So he intends to fight his father. Jacob tells both of his parents, “Now, I pity you because you can’t raise me any higher, but I can still grow up.” On the way from the meeting, Jacob sees his sister Grace, who accuses him of being childish for building a church across the street from Calvary. He accuses her of coming home and stealing his life from him. Deep down, Jacob doesn’t really want to preach. He just wants to be accomplished at something. I really don’t even know if he would have anything to preach about Sunday after Sunday, but hey, that hasn’t stopped a lot of so-called pastors…#shade…

But for Jacob’s blistering words, Calvary is back in the black after the Fall Revival Bishop announces at a board meeting. I thought a revival was supposed to be about reviving people not a bank account…but reviving a bank account could lead to reviving people I guess…He also tells the board that with Aaron’s help, Triumph 2’s construction could be delayed indefinitely.

Speaking of Aaron, Lady Mae shows up in his quarters with a grapefruit pound cake. (Sounds delish, right?! I’ve never heard of grapefruit pound cake. If you have a recipe, drop one in the comments.) Aaron was about to go out for a jog but decides to sample some of Lady Mae’s baked goods. The cake is so delicious he tells her that he will have to run now! He also explains sweets aren’t needed to bribe him by saying, “I’ll never tell anyone about you and dad. What would be the point?” Tell us!!! We won’t tell!!! How does he know about the affair?!!!

In Grace’s quarters, Sophia is so sweet she offers to pray for her discouraged mother, “a pastor who doesn’t believe in the power of prayer.” Grace is so moved, she almost cries…Sometimes it takes the excitement of a new Christian to rekindle an old (not chronologically) and weary Christian’s faith…
