Hollywood Preacher DeVon Franklin & ‘War Room’s Priscilla Shirer to Appear on ‘The Dr. Oz Show’ Friday for ‘Faithful Fridays!’

Hello World,

Each Friday in February a new, first-of-its-kind segment on The Dr. Oz Show takes an intimate look at the intersection of faith and medicine. To explore body and soul, Dr. Oz is joined by author, speaker and preacher DeVon Franklin, whom Oprah Winfrey calls “a bonafide dynamo . . . a different kind of spiritual teacher for our times.”

Dr. Oz and DeVon Franklin will be joined by top faith leaders—Hispanic leader Samuel Rodriguez, New York Times best-selling author and star of War Room Priscilla Shirer, and Hillsong New York Pastor Carl Lentz—who add their voices to the natural link between spirituality and well-being.

Week 1—Feb. 3
Blessed 30 Challenge—30 Days of Healthy, Blessed Living

Dr. Oz, DeVon Franklin and their panel of faith leaders—Carl Lentz, Samuel Rodriguez and Priscilla Shirer—issue the challenge to viewers to go from stressed to blessed in 30 days.

Week 2—Feb. 10
Miraculous Medical Recoveries Only God Can Explain

Joining Dr. Oz is Hillsong NYC’s Carl Lentz and Dr. Harly Rotbart, nationally renowned pediatrician, physician-scientist, parenting expert, speaker and educator and author of The Miracles Project.

Week 3—Feb. 17
Keeping the Faith Through Times of Loss

Kathie Lee Gifford recounts how faith helped her grieve losing her husband, noted professional football player and broadcaster Frank Gifford.

Week 4—Feb. 24
How to Tap into Your Faith for the Relationship, Career and Life You’ve Wanted

Dr. Oz, DeVon Franklin and their panel of faith leaders introduce The Dr. Oz Show to how faith can improve every area of your life and then conduct live interventions with people struggling with their faith.

“Faith and spirituality don’t live in a Sunday-sized compartment, or even weeklong just within the walls of a church building. Faith threads through every aspect of what makes life better,” says Dr. Oz.

Here is a sneak peek of Friday’s show!

In addition, my favorite Christian celebrity Sherri Shepherd is slated to appear and will share how she “has been coping with a serious health issue and the stress of headlines about her divorce. “

Also, DeVon Franklin and Priscilla Shirer’s father Dr. Tony Evans, pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, are two of a plethora of interesting speakers to be featured at the Proclaim 17, the NRB (National Religious Broadcasters) International Christian Media Convention to be held in Orlando, Florida Feb. 27-March 2.

Finally, DeVon Franklin recently received a book deal for his third book for “The Hollywood Commandments,” a spiritual guide for secular success which explores principles that will transform everything we think we know about God’s intention for our success by teaching us how to boldly live out the fullness of our calling in every area of our life: career, relationships and faith,” according to Publishers Marketplace.

‘Growing Up McGhee’ Returns for 2nd Season on UP!

growing-up-mcghee

Hello World,

Earlier this month, the McGhee sextuplets along with their parents Ro, a minister, and his wife Mia returned to UP for the second season of their hit show Growing Up McGhee, which comes on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. EST! The next show will air on Thursday, Feb. 9!

In the second season of Growing Up McGhee, with the McGhee sextuplets now six years old, their curiosity about life is making every day exciting and challenging for Ro and Mia. As they get older, each child is beginning to express their own individuality, and with that comes new interests and experiences that keep the family busy, laughing and sometimes a bit exasperated. Mia is also discovering that she is going to need to let go of the reins as the kids start socializing with friends at school and not just their siblings. From learning how to ride a bike without training wheels, going to work with Ro or learning how to play a musical instrument – all times six! – each day brings a new adventure. For Ro and Mia, the kids maturing also gives them a little more time for themselves to help them reconnect with who they were before they had kids. The season ends with an extra special event…Ro and Mia never had a wedding when they got married, so it’s the perfect time to renew their vows with their kids in tow and get that dream wedding they never had.

Below is my interview with Mia McGhee:

Mia, you mentioned that the money you spend on back-to-school shopping for the children is comparable to the money you would spend on a college education! I know you were joking, but have the two of you become extreme couponers since you have a budget of nearly $2,000 for back-to-school shopping? What are your top strategies for saving money on back-to-school shopping?

My strategy for saving money is to shop at places with the best deals. I love coupons but with everything that I have going on, I don’t have time to be an extreme couponer!

According to you, the children need to continue dressing alike because it’s easy to pick your children out in a crowd. But the children seem like they want to start dressing differently. At what age do you think you will allow them to dress differently and how will you cope?

Our kids can stop dressing alike when they start buying their own clothes. I’m joking! Whenever they develop their own style and start picking out their own clothes I’ll be fine with it!

prayerOf all the sextuplets, Elijah is the tallest and his clothes are handed down to his shorter brothers. How do you think he feels about that in relation to his sisters and brothers?

Elijah loves being the tallest. It reminds him of his grandfather, Ro’s dad, whom he is crazy about because he’s tall with muscles (as Elijah would say).

Madison and Olivia were looking at bras when the family went to back-to-school shopping, have you already started thinking about how you will deal with puberty with six children going through it at the same time?!

Madison and Olivia are fascinated about becoming women. To be honest, I have not thought about how we are going explaining puberty to the kids. All I know is that right now, I’m taking it one stage at a time.

I know what it feels like to have been in kindergarten twice because when my family moved from Miami to Atlanta, my parents were told I was too young to enter the first grade after completing kindergarten in Miami.(And I turned out fine by the way 🙂 ) I don’t remember having negative feelings about it, but Isaac cried when all the children were told they would have to repeat kindergarten. Why did he cry, how is he doing now, and how are the rest of the children coping? fishing

Issac did cry about repeating kindergarten because he looked forward to going into 1st grade but honestly, that was short lived. Kids are resilient and all of them have adjusted so well and we now know more than ever that it was the right choice.

Mia, you said their first day of school is your first day of vacation and Ro said, “It’s me, my wife and silence.” What are your favorite things to do as a couple while the kids are at school that maybe you can’t do in the summer months when you have to care for the entire family?

My favorite things to do as a couple while the kids are in school if Ro doesn’t have to work is to just be together. I know it sounds simple but and spending time with each other is still my favorite thing.

two-mcgheesWhat do you hope families will learn by watching Growing Up McGhee? And what have learned from being a part of Growing Up McGhee?

My hope is that our show is an encouragement to other families. If we can do it with sextuplets, you can make it too, but you have to remain hopeful. We’ve learned to pace ourselves and to enjoy the moments while we can. We know we only get one shot at being parents and if that isn’t motivation, I don’t know what is.

Also, UP is doing a “Watch and Win” sweepstakes with every new episode! The details are: UP will be giving away over $50,000 in 2017! Tina Campbell Pens Open Letter, Sherri Shepherd Prays, Omarosa Manigault Shares Her ‘View’ About Trump & More…

Christian Celebrities Respond to the Presidency of Donald Trump

three

Hello World,

Here I am writing another post about Donald Trump which I didn’t want to do except now he’s President Donald Trump and attention must be paid…We are only just one week and some hours into his presidency and he continues to incite explosive reactions on either side. From raucous women’s marches throughout the world the day after his inauguration to protests following his shocking Muslim immigration ban, the only thing that we can predict about his presidency is that it will be unpredictable. I readily admit that politics has not topped the list of my interests historically but in the wake of this historic election (as in the previous two presidential elections), I find myself engrossed in political discourse. And it seems that some of my favorite Christian celebrities are having a similar experience.

Tina Campbell of Mary Mary has received some criticism regarding on open letter she penned regarded her support of President Trump and shared on her Facebook page. Below are a few excerpts from the letter…

I understand that Mr. Donald Trump is our new president, not our God, so as a citizen I choose to have a sensible expectation of him, accompanied by much prayer for him, and a complete dependency on God to work through him, as well as the others that are in office, to secure the welfare of this nation. I choose to opt out of fear of the unknown but rather opt in to hopeful expectation because if God is for us nothing can successfully stand against us.

I believe that neither Mr. Donald Trump, nor any of us, are the sum of our mistakes, but instead, we are the sum of the potential and greatness that God, our creator, has deposited inside of us. I choose not to discredit that potential and greatness inside of Mr. Donald Trump simply because my previous perception of him has not been as great as the God who masterminded his existence.

I choose to believe in President Donald Trump. I choose to stand with him, and pray for him; because, as a follower of Jesus Christ and a firm believer in the Holy Bible, according to 1 Timothy 2:1-3, I have been commanded to: “The first thing I want you to do is pray every way you know how….. especially for rulers and their governments, to rule well…. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.” My prayer is that every person in this nation who has the unalienable right to choose their thoughts, their perspective, and their words, would make this same choice.

If you would like to read the entire letter, please see the link below…

I see nothing controversial about Tina’s stance. Basically, she is saying that she willing to not judge his unfolding presidency (which although has already been volatile is still new) by her previous opinions of him. And she will also pray for him.

Just days before Trump was inaugurated, Sherri Shepherd shared with Hollywood Today that she is praying for him although she is scared about what will unfold in his presidency based on his past…Start at the at 1:14 mark…

I understand where Sherri is coming from…As a Christian, I believe in Romans 13:1 “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” So I believe that God is the reason that Donald Trump was elected president. And I also believe that all Christians should pray for him according to 1 Timothy 2:1-3. “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.”

And at the same time, I also believe Christians are ultimately and above all God’s children and if we or other people, who are also God’s children, are being mistreated, it is our duty resist the government. We see many examples of Christians resisting against the powers that be in the Bible as well. Check out Exodus 1-2 regarding when Moses was born or even  Matthew 2 when Jesus was born. And we all know that black people wouldn’t be where we are today in America had we not resisted the government.

One black person and Christian celebrity who is wholehearted in her support of President Trump is former Apprentice star Omarosa Manigault, who has been named assistant to the president and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison in the Trump administration. Maniguault, who is also an ordained minister, spoke about Trump when she was on “The View,” where Sherri Shepherd was formerly a co-host, a few days ago. My favorite part of the interview was when she deflected a question about whether Trump will ever release his tax returns and introduced her fiancé  John Allen Newman, who is the pastor  of the Sanctuary at Mt. Calvary in Jacksonville, Florida.

Check out the video below…

Are you praying for President Trump or are you simply resisting his presidency?
