Tamera Mowry-Housley formerly of ‘The Real’ is Heading to Hallmark!

The Real talk show

Hello World,

If you’ve tuned into “The Real” lately, you’ve noticed that Tamera Mowry-Housley has left the building and has been replaced by Garcelle Beauvais. But apparently, Tamera Mowry-Housley had a good reason to leave the show after six seasons. See the news from Deadline below…

Tamera Mowry-Housley is expanding her relationship with Crown Media Family Networks,  signing a new overall deal to star in and executive produce original films for the network. First up is holiday-themed Christmas Comes Twice, set for premiere Sunday, December 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Additionally, Mowry-Housley will join Home & Family as a contributor beginning in December.

“We are thrilled to officially welcome Tamera Mowry-Housley to the Hallmark family,” said Michelle Vicary, EVP, Programming & Network Program Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “Having worked with Tamera on a few original movies previously it is a joy to have her star and executive produce more projects with us. The really exciting part of this deal is that she will join our talented cast of Home & Family, one of the best lifestyle shows in television.”

I miss her on “The Real,” but I think Hallmark better matches her Christian values and overall talent. What say you?

Thousands Wait in Line to Receive Free Thanksgiving Meals from Media Mogul Tyler Perry…

Hello World,

By now, you may have heard that hometown hero (my hometown of the A that is) Tyler Perry gave away some 5,000 free meals on Sunday. Below is the story from PEOPLE magazine:

On Sunday, the star opened up his Atlanta movie studio, Tyler Perry Studios, for four hours to feed 5,000 families with a combination of food boxes and gift cards for local supermarket chain Kroger.

Perry, 51, personally funded the event, called TPS Giving, and studio employees donated their time to volunteer and hand out all of the goods.

“Tyler was heartbroken seeing people all over the country stand in line for food so he decided he wanted to give back to his community in Atlanta,” a source close to Perry tells PEOPLE. “Hopefully this encourages others who are able to, to give back during the holiday season in a year that has been difficult for many.”

Read the rest HERE.

I’m always amazed by Tyler Perry’s generosity, but what drew my attention to this story more than his good deed was that so many people are in need AND what they were willing to do to be blessed by him. Apparently, several people showed up as his studio hours before the event started. Obviously, times are really hard for people right now.

But he is not the only one who is in the giving mood here in the A! Earlier today, Atlanta entrepreneurs Jason Lobdell,  Alix Burton, Marcus Barney, Neo Davis and Jonathan Gooch took over the registers at a local Kroger store and paid for roughly $40,000 in groceries! Below is the story from 11 Alive:

Customers at one metro Atlanta Kroger had a surprise gift in store when they arrived at the checkout counters.

“One hundred and seventy eight dollars in groceries,” said one customer on cell phone video.

“We had women literally crying saying thank you so we know how much it means,” Jason Lobdell said.

That was just some of the reaction customers gave after receiving free groceries. A band of entrepreneur brothers decided to bless as many people as they could at the Kroger on Wesley Chapel in Decatur. His friends, Alix Burton, Marcus Barney, Neo Davis and Jonathan Gooch went on Instagram live saying, “We’re doing a full shutdown we’re spending about 30 grand to take care of the entire market.”

Jason Lobdell said at first they were going to hand out gift cards but that was taking too long so they went with plan b. Read the rest HERE.

As outstanding as these acts of generosity are, you don’t have to be wealthy to give some of what you have away. You and I may not able to give free meals to 5,000 people or take over the registers at a local grocery store for a couple of hours, but God can still use to bless somebody in some way…

What say you?

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all…

‘Family Matters’ Siblings Bring Christmas Spirit in Legacy Distribution’s Holiday Romance ‘Christmas In Carolina’

Hello World,

I must confess. I’m already in the Christmas mood. A week or so ago, I was shopping at Wal-Mart, and I heard Christmas music as I was checking off  items on my grocery list. Normally when I hear Christmas music before Thanksgiving, I get annoyed because it demeans Thanksgiving into just a stop on the way to Christmas. But this year, with all that has unfolded, the message of Christmas, that God is with us, is a message that I need in a way that I haven’t felt before. But I’m still not overlooking Thanksgiving. Check out my Thanksgiving post above! I’ve got some very meaningful things to be thankful for this year. That being said, one of my favorite things about the Christmas season are the Christmas movies, and here is one you may want to check out this Christmas!

One of my favorite shows while I was growing up was Family Matters, and now, Kellie Shanygne Williams and Darius McCrary, who portrayed siblings Laura Winslow and Eddie Winslow on the show, are starring in a new Christmas movie Christmas In Carolina. Below is more information about the movie!

Legacy Distribution and Stacie Davis Films are proud to present the festive new holiday film that celebrates love and family, Christmas In CarolinaDirected by Peggy Williams and written by Stacie Davis, this sweet holiday romance about opening up to love is sure to ignite the Christmas spirit in everyone this year. Starring Family Matters stars Kellie Shanygne Williams and Darius McCrary, who reprise their roles as siblings, as well as Jocelyn Y. Hall (Atlanta), David L. Rowell (Comp-li-cat-ed), and Terrence Shingler (Power), Christmas In Carolina is widely available on  across VOD transactional platforms.

After losing her parents in a car accident, Elle (Joslyn Y. Hall), a career-driven investment banker, has given up on love and Christmas until she meets Wesley (David L. Rowell), a former NBA player and CEO of a small marketing firm. Impetuously, Wesley invites Elle home for Christmas in South Carolina with his family. With hesitation, Elle accepts and gets a much bigger present than she could ever have imagined!

Dana Webber, CEO of Legacy Distribution, shares, “We are incredibly proud to share this uplifting, positive story, especially this year, as we move into the holiday season. It is exactly the dose of happiness we all need!”

“Being able to bring the story of Elle and Wesley’s romance to life was an absolute joy, especially as I was able to incorporate Christmas into it!” says writer/producer, Stacie Davis. “I sincerely hope that everyone finds some holiday cheer in ‘Christmas in Carolina’!”
