Deborah Joy Winans aka Charity Greenleaf from OWN’s ‘Greenleaf’ is Pregnant in Real Life!

While Charity Greenleaf’s pregnancy and motherhood was a major source of drama on OWN’s Greenleaf, Deborah Joy Winans, the actress who portrayed her, had yet to experience pregnancy and motherhood. In fact, I asked her about this when I interviewed back in 2016. See the excerpt below:

And now you’re pregnant on the show, do you have any children in real life?

I do not. I’ve got two nieces and three nephews so that’s about all of the kids I have right now. I spoil them rotten and send them back home. Hopefully, in the future if the Lord blesses us to have kids of our own, that would be awesome.

Well, Deborah Joy Winans and her husband have been blessed by the Lord in due time! Pun intended! See an excerpt of the ESSENCE article in which Deborah Joy shared about her pregnancy below:

Although a pregnancy can last up to 40 weeks, sometimes longer, actress and singer Deborah Joy Winans, best known for playing Charity on the OWN hit series Greenleaf, is prayerful that she will make it to 28. For the 37-year-old, that will be the end of a nerve-wracking process, but also a beautiful beginning.

“As long as I can get to 28, we should be okay,” Winans tells ESSENCE, 26 weeks at the time of our conversation and expecting a son. “Once we get to 28 weeks, [my doctor] knows that he’ll be good and healthy if he came that early. So, 28 is the goal.”

Winans and her husband of eight years, Terrence Williams, knew from the very beginning that their unborn son would possibly come early. Before she found out she was pregnant, as she consulted her doctor about how to begin the process to conceive last December and stopped taking birth control, she found out, by her own inquiry, that she had fibroids. Not just one fibroid, but eight, and one in particular that is the size of a watermelon, having grown for what’s estimated at eight years. Surgery, a procedure similar to a Cesarean section, was recommended to remove them all.

Russell Wilson & Ciara Caught Worshiping & Praying at Church!

Hello World,

My headline is a tongue-in-cheek one because we should all be caught worshiping and praying at church. I’m not sure if the Wilsons’ photographer took this picture or if another churchgoer captured the Wilsons in a private moment at church, but either way I think it’s a good image to be circulating. And that’s why I’m sharing it here…

Worshiping and praying together doesn’t automatically make a happy marriage, but I think these two practices are important building blocks in happy marriage…

Blending Gospel, R&B & Rap, E21 United is Back With New Video From First Album ‘Lord You’ve Been So Good’

Atlanta-based E21 United is marking the release of a new video for the group’s song “Just Clap Your Hands” from their first album “Lord You’ve Been So Good.”

Lead vocalist Yolanda Everett says, “There’s enough going on in the world today to bring people down, so we want to encourage them that everything is going to be okay and there is hope. One of my favorites on the album is ‘Just Clap Your Hands.’ It was our very first song on a CD that we produced in 2010, so there are some people who are already familiar with it. We gave it a little face-lift and added more of a live sound to it. It’s one of those songs that has a real nice groove. I think it also has an inspiring message that even in the midst of troubled times, everything’s going to be all right.”

As part of that focus to uplift listeners, E21 United included a group of dancers stepping to the beats in the high-energy video. Check out the video below!

The list of songs on E21 United’s album include the song for which the album is titled, “Lord You’ve Been So Good,” along with:

Blending gospel, R&B and rap, gospel group E21 United aims to “reach listeners where they are and lift them to a higher plateau,” according to Yolanda Everett, through songs that “teach listeners about God’s eternal love for us and the love we should express to others.” Some of the group’s songs, such as “Lord You’ve Been So Good,” and “Good News,” are receiving airplay in the metropolitan Atlanta area and other markets in the Southeast.

E21 United, with roots in Atlanta, includes Yolanda and her brother Charles Everett, also a vocalist, who produces, mixes and raps. Christian rap artist Lonnie Edwards recently stepped down from the group to focus on academic and athletic schedules for his three children.

The group’s name comes from the scripture: Ephesians 2:1.

Outside of the new album, Charles and Lonnie collaborated on a song entitled “Forever Free.” The song, which has than 50,000 views, addresses personal losses, including for those who’ve lost loved ones to COVID-19.
