Pastor Jamal Bryant’s Ex-Wife Gizelle Bryant Pens New Novel Loosely Based on Her Life!

Hello World,

One of my favorite ways to relax on a Sunday evening is to watch The Real Houseswives of Atlanta. While Real Housewives of Potomac star Gizzelle Bryant doesn’t live in the A, I wonder what her ex-husband Dr. Jamal Bryant, who recently became the new senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia thinks about his ex-wife’s new book “My Word?” The novel, which is being published by Brown Girls Books, according to Gizzelle’s Instagram page  is “loosely based on my dramatic, happy, fun, sad, crazy life.”

Below is the description of the book, which can be pre-ordered before it’s official debut on April 3o:

After marrying her college sweetheart, Ginger Williams gave up her own professional dreams to help her husband follow his dream of building a megachurch. It’s not long before Ginger and her husband, Jeremy, turn a small D.C. church into a burgeoning empire….catapulting the couple into a popular powerhouse.

But with a bigger spotlight comes more temptation…and the power is corrupting Jeremy in ways Ginger never imagined. When she seeks the advice of her peers on the First Ladies’ Council, she’s shocked when they tell her to accept Jeremy’s infidelities so she doesn’t damage the church and affect the many business opportunities coming their way.

With every part of her life—family faith, and finances—hanging in the balance, Ginger must decide if she will continue to live in the shadow of the sins of her husband…or face life on the other side of the pulpit.

Is Ginger really Gizzelle? And is Jeremy really Jamal? That would only make sense…And Gizelle, with some rosary beads dangling from her red lips, is the cover model for her upcoming novel so….My Word For Real!

Gizzelle wrote about the inspiration for “My Word” on her Bravo blog

“I have lived a very interesting life. I am now in a space where I want to share tidbits of my story in a fictitious way on my terms… Again, whether I wrote one book or 17, this is FICTION and I can’t nor do I want to damage the black church…”

Although both Dr. Jamal Bryant and Gizzelle Bryant (or Jeremy and Ginger 🙂 ) have spoken about what broke up their marriage, they seem to be getting along well right now, at least according to Gizzelle’s Instagram’s page…

She congratulated him about coming to New Birth….

Dr. Bryant will officially be installed as senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church on March 10!

And on last Father’s Day, Gizzelle said this about Dr. Bryant…

So will you be buying “My Word?”

Any thoughts?

OWN’s ‘Greenleaf’ Season 4 Has Started Filming and You Could Be a Part of It!

Hello World,

On this Sunday morning, it gives me great pleasure to tell you that OWN’s “Greenleaf” has started filming here in the A! If you don’t believe me, check out these social media posts I’ve rounded up from the cast!

I’m not sure exactly where they are filming in the A in Season 4 except for this location thanks to this AJC article by Rose Kennedy:

House of Hope Atlanta

4650 Flat Shoals Pkwy, Decatur

This huge, beautiful church has featured in all three seasons as lead character Bishop James Greenleaf’s home church, Calvary Fellowship. Organized more than 138 years ago as a Sunday School and prayer meeting group, it now ministers to five generations under the leadership of senior pastor/teacher Dr. E. Dewey Smith, Jr.

Some of the locations from Season 3 include:

Eagle Rock Studios

6205 Best Friend Road, Norcross

All three seasons of Greenleaf have been filmed at Eagle Rock, according to location manager Patrick Rofoli.

“We have a portion of the Greenleaf Mansion built on stage, along with the offices and hallways of the churches, including an amazing coffee shop that we added this season to the church set.”

The parsonage and various swing sets are all also shot on various Eagle Rock stages. “Both Norcross and Gwinnett County are film-ready communities with great support from the citizens and the government,” Rofoli added.

Wages & Sons Funeral Home

1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville

Season 3 of Greenleaf involved the fictional Thompson Casket & Funeral Service, filmed at the family-owned Wages & Sons Funeral Home, which has served metro Atlanta’s funeral and crematory needs for more than 50 years.

And if you’re in the metro Atlanta area (or if you’re willing to fly in I guess) and have a baby, you can be on set THIS week!

From Project Casting:

Greenleaf season 4 is now casting babies in Atlanta, Georgia.

CAB Castings is now casting two African American toddlers ages 6 months 8 months old for the 4th season of OWN’s hit TV series Greenleaf. Casting directors are looking for kids with a brown complexion who are between 21 to 23 inches with filming on January 30th in Atlanta, Georgia. Babies will be compensated $100/day.

Check out the rest of the post on projectcasting.com.

And if you want to be an extra, you should probably bookmark Project Casting’s web page for more casting calls! I’m sure there will be more opportunities available!

Finally, I’m not sure when Season 4 will air, but I hope it’s sooner rather than later…

Happy Sunday!

The King Center Gears Up for the 51st Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Commemorative Service…

Hello World,

Aside from Christmas and Easter, one of my favorite holidays is the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday which the country if not the world will celebrate tomorrow. All over the country, there will be events celebrating the life and legacy of the great civil rights leader but no place celebrates Dr. King like his hometown here in the A. I believe the highlight of the celebratory events in Atlanta is the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Commemorative Service which is held in Dr. King’s home church of Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Horizon Sanctuary. Below is the schedule for the service which has and continues to include dignitaries from all over the globe.

Also, due to the government shutdown the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park was supposed to be closed tomorrow as the National Park Service maintains the park. However, due to a grant from Delta Air Lines and other funds, the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park opened on Saturday and will remain open throughout the Super Bowl which will be held in Atlanta on Feb. 3!

In a statement, Delta CEO and trustee of the Delta Air Lines Foundation Ed Bastian said the group “felt it was important we do our part to ensure that the historical landmarks be accessible to the public.”

“Dr. King was about bringing people together and at Delta, we are about making the world a smaller place,” he added.

To read the entire story, click on the CNN story “MLK national park will reopen during government shutdown with help of Delta Air Lines” by Nicole Chavez.

How will you be celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. King tomorrow?
